Street lighting and multi-storey car parks

Street lighting and multi-storey car parks

Seeking advice from other councils as to how they classify street lighting and any information that Ken may be able to provide.

Recently we have had discussions as to whether street lighting is considered to be "road furniture" and therefore should be incorporated into this year's revaluation of road infrastructure assets or whether the assets fall into the category of "other structures" as this is how we have classified the assets for the past 10 years and therefore review the value of street lighting during next year's revaluation process.

Another hot topic currently under discussion is what the potential useful life would be for a multi-storey car park, in particular the life of the structure itself, internal pilings and stair wells.

Any information on how other councils account for these assets or advice on either topic would be greatly appreciated.
